Although the Great Library of Alexandria may have been lost a long time ago, there is still much to see in Alexandria. Egypt is the world's learning center today, but the library went down when it was forgotten, and it is still there today.
It should be noted that the weather in Alexandria in November and February can sometimes be quite unpleasant for visitors. The absolute best month is probably November in the north, but the nights are cooler and the sea temperature is slightly higher (see Marsa Alam), although it does not have 22 degrees Celsius (72 degrees) through Feb. In the south, the days in April are already scorching and in spring temperatures are high. When you visit Egypt, you can enjoy some of the best weather conditions in Egypt in April, May, June, July, August and September.
Most of the rain falls along the coast, but even in the humid areas of Alexandria we have received rainfall of up to 3 to 4 cm per day.
Egypt's climate is characterized by a combination of tropical and subtropical climates with a high degree of temperature and rainfall fluctuations. Extreme heat during the summer months is the general climate feature in Egypt, with daytime temperatures along the north coast rather decreasing. The extreme temperatures during this time of year are tempered by the prevailing northerly winds and the presence of high pressure over the country.
If you want to visit one of Egypt's most popular tourist destinations, such as Sharm el-Sheikh, the best time is in winter (November to February), when the weather is usually mild and sunny. The best times are in Sharms el Sheikh during the summer months, with temperatures between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius.
If you are looking for a very warm time to visit Alexandria, the hottest months are August, July and then September. If you are looking for dry weather, June and July (then August) are the best months to be in Alexandria.
Most people avoid Egypt in May and September because the heat is unbearable, but in Alexandria it can often be quite pleasant during these times. As every visitor to Egypt knows, the best travel times are October to May and the hottest months in summer.
Nocturnal temperatures can be very, very hot in places where the average temperature is above 40 degrees Celsius, such as Aswan, Luxor, Asyut and Sohag, all of which are in the Egyptian desert. The widespread Middle Egypt is a year-round destination, as there is not everything, and includes a comprehensive itinerary. It may not look like it, but the summer months are particularly hot and the ideal activities depend on who you visit. With the exception of some special events, such as the annual pilgrimage to Cairo, Egypt is not really an annual destination - at least not for most people.
This is the cooler part of the country, where temperatures range from 84 to 89 degrees Celsius during the day and evening, and cool down to 50 to 60 degrees in the evening. Further south, the heat is intense and dry and in places muggy, while further south and north, with the sun relentlessly prevailing, temperatures can reach up to 90 degrees.
It is bearable to take a walk along the river where it is windy, but it will be hot and humid in places, especially in the south and north.
Places like the Pyramids of Giza are filled with sizeable crowds all year round, but tame in the summer months.
